"Ippin" is the Japanese word for "item of rare beauty". This 8 1/4" sushi plate created by glass artist Karen Pester harnesses the simple yet beautiful. The base is two layers of iridized glass are fused together with the outside coatings. The center is another layer of clear glass fused to the top. The piece is then slumped in a sushi plate mold. The glass is annealed in both firings to add strength and prevent stress fractures.
